Photography – Arnhem – Ground Forces

A young paratrooper sat in a jeep with a small collapsable motorbike in front.

The second series of photography from my Arnhem trip, this time the Ground Forces. Operation Market-Garden was a two prong attack on occupied Arnhem, the airborne troops holding key bridges to allow a the tank division to roll on in. A simple plan in principal, but due to numerous problems from a single track road to communication issues and an unexpected Panzar tank divisions the plan failed. But even in it’s failure it is heralded as one of the fiercest demonstrations of bravery by allied troops of WWII.
